I have been going thru my binders and I found 2 Three Cent Nickels that I have questions about. I know about longacre doubling, my other 3cent piece has it everywhere, but these 2 I think may be something. I am very confident of this one, I think it is in the Cherry Pickers Guide page 184. opinions please, and check out my other post as well.

It is a doubled die but here is where knowing your series comes into play. During the era when these coins were struck, many coins exhibited doubling. It is not uncommon to find doubled dies on nickel Three Cent pieces as well as on Shield nickels.

Some Shield nickels that are doubled dies, for example don't sell for much more than normal ones of the same date.

Thanks,
Bill
PS: It is still a nice find and I am not trying to minimize the find. I am just trying to put it in context.
