My Fiances brother called me a few days ago to tell me he had received an old dime in change at Crispy Cream here in Southern Cal. I immediately thought it was probably a 50's or 60's Roosy which would be a cool find in itself in change considering it's 2008. Well, I asked him what the date on the dime was and he said it was a 1920! I could not believe it. I asked the demeanor of the person who gave him the change. He said she was about 16 or 17 and seemed like she was going through the motions and looking at the clock. Good for him. I don't think she would have known what it was anyway. Anyone else had any luck in change like this? I'm talking about Mercury dimes, Buffalo's, etc. I still want to check the coin out but won't see him till next week. swcoin.ecrater.com

It's been a long, long time since I got a Buffalo nickel or Mercury dime in change. And, I always look at every coin which goes into my pocket.

That's awesome! Everyone's seemed to have good finds recently. Today, my coworker opened a roll of nickels and out popped something she had never seen before. She told me, "I think it's Canadian, but it says United States on it." It turned out to be a Liberty nickel (1907), with a good amount of verdigris on it.

Got two buffalos in the last week while searching through only about $50 in nickels. One 1926 and one amazingly unreadable, green-and-red tinged buffalo.

I'd guess its been about 4 years since I received a mercury in change.

I can't believe how many people still come across Mercury dimes in circulation. I was never lucky enough find one. Although, about a year ago I found a Buffalo nickel in circulation. Unfortunately the date was completely worn off.

Searching rolls, I found a 1936 Buffalo, at work a 1923. Also at work I found a 1964 dime, and just a couple nights ago, a 1909 VDB Wheat penny in ef condition!

I found a 59 Rosie in the change tray at my bank and bought that, and traded a 64 quarter for a clad one with someone who was mad that the vending machine wouldn't take their quarter. Got a chuckle from that one. Maybe not the nicest thing to do, but they wouldn't believe me that it was silver.
