New to CC, my first post , so hello all! I found this 1982 penny while searching through a stack today and it struck me as odd! It looks as though "e pluribus unum" is spelled " e pluriSus unum" and possibly doubles. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?   |

To the CCF. Sorry, can't tell anything from those small pictures plus my monitor is too big to turn sideways. In order to help, we need to see all the detail on a coin. |

Without seeing up close it would be very difficult to give a definitive answer to your question. However I would venture a guess that ANYTIME you suspect a misspelled word on a coin, it without doubt is either PSD, a damaged die, or some other issue like a delamination error, Struck Through Grease etc. The nature of the dies would make it virtually impossible to have an incorrectly spelt word. Just Post Strike Damage ( PSD), on EPU. It's only worth face value, since the damage happened after it left the U.S. Mint. Errers and Varietys.

Think about it. How could a hub that created a die miss spell a word on one coin? If it was miss spelled, then all of them would all look the same. As mentioned before, coin damage.
