Hi All,

Had to take a break, and just got back into searching through coins :)

Anyhew... I found this 1987 D LMC that looks like it could be a D/D but since this is a zinc, wondering if it is just a curious zinc bubble?

I did not find a match for this one...

Whatcha think?

That's actually a zinc rot bubble forming on the mintmark, from Spilt Plate Doubling. It's Post Strike Damage and is only unfortunately worth face value.

It is not a doubled die. In your title you use D/D which to me indicates doubled die. It seems you are talking about the mint mark and if it is "doubled" but that would be a RPM, which it is not. It is zinc rot from split copper plating.

Thanks John... I thought D/D referred to mint mark and that DD(O) DD(R) referred to Double Die.

Wasn't thinking there was any doubling...just curious if the mint mark was a bubble or a second mint mark.

Figured it was rot, but thought I would ask anyway since it mimicked the D mint mark.

DDO and DDR are correct for a doubled die,but when I see D/D or DD it makes me think of doubled die not a RPM. Just a FYI.
