1878 7/8 TF. Closest I can come is a VAM 38 but I'm not sure. I see alot of the errors of a 38, but other errors not listed. This coin has die cracks obverse/reverse darn near all around. Some of the letters, I can't tell if PMD or errors. There must have been some serious polishing on this die, nostril/mouth over-polished, arrow, top flight is almost polished out of the picture, tail-feathers lots of polishing down. Cant get good pic of that due to smudge/smear over the tail. Needs to be re-slabbed. Has 3 or 4 letters busted. At first I thought copy? But then, it is in a PCGS slab with a decent grade. Anyways, take a look and see what ya'll can come up with.
I tend to agree with your VAM38 attribution. All the things you refer to as errors are actually die markers. Keep in mind the production of the 8TF VAM-9 all the way to B2 reverse took place in a matter of weeks. It had to be a mad scramble....
