It's hard to get a good pic to show just exactly how shiny and mirror-like this penny is. It definitely has some damage and isn't perfect, but it really is gorgeous! Just curious of your thoughts on it. Thank you!
No, it's not a Proof coin. It's a normal Environmentally damaged stained Philadelphia Business Strike with Post Strike Damage ( PSD). A Proof coin would usually bear the San Francisco mimtmark, have different rims, a frosted surface, and a mirror like surface. A Proof coin is struck twice using specially prepared dies.
I think that proof coins from this general era were all made in Philadelphia, not SF, but certainly no proofs were issued in 1947. There does seem to be some corrosion starting on the obverse of this coin which greatly diminishes its value.
