Where do you all buy your BU rolls? I'd like to buy some but, I'm kind of leery about buying them on ebay. What do you think?

I have bought a couple on e-bay and got some very nice coins. But, for the price I paid for the rolls, it was hard to break even. I won't recommend anyone do it, way to many *loaded* rolls out there on fleece-bay. Now I will only buy PCGS or NGC slabbed coins on there and that is still a gamble. Where I live, I have no choice to buy them anywhere else.

Sort of like buying so called UNSEARCHED coins. What is inside a roll of coins could be almost anything. And on ebay, I'd really be careful.

BU rolls can be tough to obtain if you don't have much experience in them . Also it depends on what denomination and dates your looking for . As said above , thread lightly on E-bay .You can try online dealers of OBW rolls or uncirculated rolls . Make sure they are reputable dealers and you'll be ok .

Thanks everyone! Basically just a general question as I hear so many of you speak of going through BU rolls and of course they are much nicer. I'm a Lincoln center collector only... For now!... Lol. I appreciate your responses.

I went through/searched more than 800 (in total) of penny, nickel, dime, and quarter "BU" roles last year that I had purchased from several sources and my experience is always the same. What someone else considers BU most often doesn't even make an MS65 grade. For example, I follow a guy in Colorado who always has the latest in quarter roles. He's buying in bulk, quarter bags from somewhere (local bank or directly from mint?) and from those "mint" bags he dumps them into a coin roller/wrapping machine. Imagine how many times that mint bag of quarters has been tossed around between minting of the quarter, transport to the local bank, and then being dumped into a wrapping machine. By the time you open that BU role of 2019 quarters, they are loaded with tiny scratches and such. Sure, they are truly uncirculated and certainly shiny but between all the clanking around of quarters on quarters inside those mint bags, dumped into a rapper machine, they're beat down to an MS63 grade. However, with all that being said, every so often I hit a stretch of coins in a role that survived the trip and have gotten MS66 grade from PCGS and that is what keeps my search on and might explain my effort in searching a large quantity of roles. I've had the best luck with pennies and dimes from online coin dealers -- no ebay. Usually the lighter coins such as pennies and dimes fair better at having survived their trip into a wrapper. Nickels and Quarters get beat up in their journey. I've found most penny roles out there from the 1960s and 1970s date ranges have been picked over several times and are mostly junk. Especially if you are buying them and they come in a plastic tube... they've already been picked over at least once before going into the tube, so, basically you are buying someone else's spenders.

I get mine from my LCS. I get them for the soul purpose of finding varieties, and if that's what you'll be looking for, (in my opinion) BU rolls are the way to go.
