I ran across a 1979 D Kennedy half that weighs 7.4g? I am too new to the hobby to know any possible reasons for this. It is very hard to describe the difference in this coin and a regular 1979 Kennedy. Other than the weight, if I had to describe it, I would have to say it seems 'Hollow' and sounds very different when against another coin. I am very reasonably sure it is not a novelty coin or anything of that nature...I am just not sure of the other possibilities. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if, by chance I am making a fool out of myself...well, it wouldn't be the first time.... Anyway, you guys are great! Thanks for the help! Twitch

to the CCF! I'm curious as to what the reeded edge looks like on your coin.

The rim on the reverse looks like it might be a Magician's coin, so yes, it might be hollow.

sounds like a magician coin.. inspect the edge of the coin.

you should be able to separate the coin.
here are pics of one of mine:

Thanks everyone! You all nailed it! I tried to get a few more photos as requested, but I am stuck with this horrible ebay usb camera at the moment and it is a horrible way to get a photo. I suppose I had never thought about trick coins. If I had a color, it would certainly be 'green'. I can definitely see separation now that I am looking for it. Thanks to all of you for being so helpful...maybe one day I will be able to help someone else with something. Twitch

I have seen demonstration for opening magic coins.

Rattle it around in a jar until it pops apart.
