I am looking for any explanations for the diagonal lines passing through some of the columns on the reverse.

The coin has a dark varnish-type of finish to it, as well.

I have adjusted the contrast in the last photo hoping to reveal the lines better.

It appears to be in the planchet quality before the coin was struck. Less than perfect metal that the planchet was produced from.

My guess is linear plating bubbles, and that carries no premium. These zinc cents commonly have these spotted around the coin or in large bubbles. Keep looking!

Yep. Your coin has a Linear Plating Bubble, which is common and adds no value. The coloring is caused by toning.
