Yes. If the 1983 D LMC weights 3.1 or close to it, it's the extremely rare one.

Try weighting it again to make sure the weight isn't inaccurate.

Dude, that looks VERY interesting. You could have a 5-figure coin there if it is copper. I'm not sure if 3.0 is within the tolerance range for a zinc cent, but I would be if I saw that on my balance... Keep us in the loop in case it's the real thing. Edit: yes, calibrate / tare the balance and make sure to put the cent in the center of the tray.

But you might want to make sure the coins are in the right spot on the ends of the stick. (Circle around where they should be located) If they are not in the exact spot, that can through your poor mans scale off.

Try again. Turn it off, then back on and after it is on a level surface, press TARE. That sets the zero point for it. Then try it again. Looks like I'm coming around third headed for home and reach 35K soon on my post count.

For a possible coin like that, I recommend getting it weighed by a real scale.... Either buy a cheapo scale; mine cost $18 I think or head on down to a coin shop and ask use theirs... Good luck

@levelsofmadness, agree with Coop, downforce is affected in relation to position on the stick. Plus, it would be better to use it on the metal collar since it is round

I agree on the position of the coin being equal distance from the center point. And making a mark on where the coin sits on the popsicle stick is good for quality control measure. I purposely placed the copper coin closer to the pivot point to show it weighs much more then the zinc coin; like 20% more. Bad thing about the popsicle scale.. accuracy is plus or minus 10%...just kiddin. thanks ...time for more CRH!
