I got this 2002 D Roosevelt dime in some change today at my bank and the ear seems to be a little different. I don't collect dimes per say and while at present there are no 2002 D DDO's this one stuck out. The ear is thicker and at the top and you can see a separation line in that area. The lobe also has a ledge that makes me think MD. There also appears to be some doubling in the hair just left of the ear. The overall thickness along with the separation line is just a question for me. For comparisons sake I am posting a pic from a normal dime with a normal ear. Thoughts?

It's Machine Doubling, since the ear is reduced in size.

looks like the dime maybe an EDS die. You might compare it with a proof dime to see if that is the normal size of the ear. On the business strike coins, when they are polished, or when a lot of coins have been struck the ear can show die wear. But proof coins are struck less times.
