Slim pickings CRH these past two days. I will keep this one till I get a better one. I ran into this variety before but that other coin was trashed.

Is this variety very common?

To answer your question no. The biggest thing I do is coin roll hunting Lincoln cents, so I know pretty much all of the transitional varieties and a lot of the major Lincoln Cent varieties. And never once have I ever heard a 1989 RDV 5 mentioned

Ken Potter debunked this variety, saying that it was caused by an over polished die issue.

hmmm after taking a 5th, 6th, and 7th relook, I am thinking I have the normal FG where the die has been deteriorated.

False alarm.

thanks

Note the end at the top of the 'G'?

I found out about this variety in STRIKE IT RICH WITH POCKET CHANGE;

Maybe it is time for a new edition or amendment page(s).
