Just found this (and some Mercury dimes I'll post in the appropriate forum) cleaning out our storage unit. My 7 year old daughter is now a "collector" after finding a steel penny in a jar of old coins last month. TBH I didn't know this coin existed until now and I never thought we'd actually stumble upon anything other than wheat pennies after our big steel penny find. We like learning about the coins we find even if it's worth nothing. What do you think?

Worth roughly its silver value, about $6 currently. It can be the start of a Franklin half dollar collection.
Rest in Peace

So the reply about it's silver value - that was my aha moment in realizing the little bag of random coins we found (with the dimes and more coins from about 5 other countries) was not random at all.. it was a little stockpile of silver coins. Her "collection" is a bit erratic but if it means shes hoarding $100 in loose change Vs $100 in hatchanimals I will do anything to help her enthusiasm. Also, she knew exactly who Ben Franklin was - "the man known for inventing swim flippers"
