An imitation of Huvishka's elephant-rider. Mitchiner assigns them to the Jouan-jouan. His argument is weak but has found acceptance in the trade: "Chinese sources tell of the Kushans being subject to raids by the Jouan-jouan, the nomads who controlled the steppe lands further north. Certain other features of contemporary Kushan coinage struck further south suggest that Vasu Deva's succession to Huvishka may have been troubled. When the evidence is assembled it seems fairly likely that a combination of internal troubles and nomad raids divested the Kushans of their most northerly possessions". Personally, I think "local imitation" is more realistic. Cf. Mitchiner ACW p. 442 and nos. 3378-3384.
