Any help identifying, translating and/or attributing the tag fob below would be greatly appreciated. It is 29mm in diameter, 5.6g and appear to be made out of brass.

Albert I think you could be on to something. Japanese? Possibly a old Japanese dog license tag? Hopefully someone out there can translate and date. Thanks!

Actually I think Korean is closer than Japanese.

Just curious why some of the characters do not translate? Some translate to Japanese and some Chinese. One word appears to be City and one word may be Dog.
Update: After more digging It does look more like a Japanese Pet Tag. I've had better luck with some more of the characters.

What are you using to translate? I tried writing the unknown characters in google translate and also couldn't find a few. I suspect some are strangely stylized perhaps to make the dies or dialect or age. But I speak some Japanese and the ones I know are top right: city, north, stand (Beitai in Chinese). middle: dog registration. Bottom left to right: ?, year, 60, ? citizen

I think it's Chinese too. I can't make out most of the characters either (but just enough for me to tell it's traditional Chinese) - there's a either strange stylisation here, or the words are nonsense. I'm using the best translator I could find online and still getting nothing, some of the characters don't even exist.

I'm in the same boat but lean towards Japan. I also did pick up on the "60" ans some other words. Trouble is China & Japan do share some characters. But with the "60" I've ruled out Korea. At first glance I thought of Korea due to the straight line or boxy shapes characters.

Well, thanks to all for your input. I can not read Chinese or Japanese, but I lean toward this tag being Japanese. The numbers at the bottom resemble the dates on Japanese coins and I believe the date is actually Year 16, which can be 1883, 1941 or 2004. My guess is 1941. I found no internet matches for vintage Chinese dog license tags, but I did find two ebay listings for Japanese dog license tags with the same character that is on my tag in the center. Would be interested in additional thoughts and comments. Thanks again!

Here's the best I can make out from it: Forum does not support Chinese characters...

Thank you for doing this Altaira, but I am not sure how to interpret your post. Based on your findings, do you think the tag is a Chinese Dog License? If so, any thoughts on age? If not, any other thoughts on what it could be? Thanks again!

I suspect it's from Taiwan dated 1957. It's meant to be read from right to left, not left to right.
