Has anyone seen anything like this?

Picked it up in an auction lot of vintage medical tins and supplies. From a bit of limited searching on the bay it appears it may have a bit of collectable value.

Your thoughts?

Its interesting. I wonder what is collectible, the bottle or the contents. I can't imagine that the contents are particularly scarce.

I believe its the bottles, vintage advertising sometimes sells well. Not sure what the remaining silver would be worth in this state.

The bottle, with the label intact, is worth way more than the silver contents. However, it should all be kept together unless silver goes to a jillion dollars an ounce.

The granularized Ag/Hg amalgam inside the bottle supports the claim of the label on the bottle, and are are thus co- dependent.
Keep them together - what else is worth storing in the bottle anyway?

With the screw top, I'd place a date on the bottle around 1940 - 1980.

Here is what Amalgam is. Dental amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, tin, and copper. Small amounts of zinc, indium or palladium may also be present.
