How much do marks like this effect the grading of these Peace dollars? Will this coin even grade without details?

I think it is 50/50 on it coming back details strained. I think it is mint state and a nice coin. The strain/carbon/toning (don't know which from the pics) is not that distracting.

Well I guess I'll send it in with the restoration fee. I did buy a second one just incase. I'm trying to put together a MS Peace dollar set. I'm buying some already graded, but I thought it would be more exciting to find raw ones that I could sens in myself. At least the graders at NGC will get a good laugh when I finally send in that box of noob collected Peace dollars. /: Heres a picture of the other one. I'm sure it's been cleaned and is made of tin or something.

the second one posted has been cleaned. I don't think i'd send the original coin in for anything. I would just put it in my collection or resell it. probably MS60/61 details

I'm beginning to learn fast that Coin World is full of people selling their problems. I'm not sure I want to be apart of that at least knowingly.

Yes, the fields on the second one appear to have been smoothed, although it might just be the blurry pics. Can you show us sharper ones?

Quote: Well slap me and call me Mr. Details! Don't feel like the lone stranger on this! Want to see my silver stack? It's loaded with rookie/ebay mistakes. While it stinx, I have learned from my boo-boos! Yea, there are a lot of yo-yo's out there just waiting to pass their junk off. I just throw them in the melt bag and press on. Don't let this ruin your collecting fun/passion, just learn from it. Cleaned coins are not all bad. I have filled a few holes in my collection with cleaned coins. MUCH cheaper than dropping a grand on a single coin. A polished coin looks good until I can find a good deal or save enough to buy an unmolested coin in the grade I want. Welcome to the forum!

Man, you guys are good. I did buy these off ebay and the pictures were from the sellers. When I got them in, the first one looked better than the picture and had some really great cartwheel, other than the staining it's a nice coin. The second one had the bejesus cleaned out of it. I can't believe I fell for that picture. I ended up sending both back, but giving the guy with the first coin a little cash for his time since it was my mistake. Heres a real picture of the second one. I'm not sure how he got it to look so smooth on his post.

Good, you returned them. Another Photoshop scammer. A reminder to never buy without full return privileges.
