Can anyone advise on the green deposits on this medieval soldino? Is it harmful or benign? From what I understand the coin is 67% silver. Thanks for any advice for a newbie.

Solidinos of this period have a high copper content( a little over 30%) Noting the high copper content I have always assumed these green deposits are verdigris( products of copper corrosion. If the corrosion is still active it can damage the coin, stored well the coin shouldn't deteriorate further and the green is a typical patina( to my aesthetics)

@captain, that's a nice medieval you've got! Clear legends and design. I'm guessing you've already IDd it, but just in case: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces114105.html

I agree with austrokiwi. I've got a few medievals from this period with a touch of verdigris like this. With the dark patina on your coin, it doesn't look too bad at all in my opinion. I've had one of mine for at least 15 years, and there has been no noticeable progression.
