it almost looks as though they messed up and used a 5 on the end of 1996 and then changed the die from a 5 to a 6 it just dont look right

to CCF. Grease Filled Die or DDD,worn die. It also has a minor collar clash,by TY on LIBERTY. I see no added value though. Hope you stick around and enjoy our great site.

To CCF! It's severe Die Deterioration, caused by a worn die issue, from striking a ton of planchets at the U.S. Mint. And yes, it's common. There's no premium for it.

I agree with most. The die is in a late die state. I suppose it could be an isolated form of severe Die Deterioration. At this stage showing on the date, I'd expect to see it more across the board. Seems like the die pushed or slid across the date.

Is the reverse normal or does it show anything similar like the obverse? Also curious about the secondary rim showing as well? Thanks, Doug.
