I have recently found during one of my note searches the note pictured below. I was excited to find this note until I saw the reddish purple mark on the left bottom. After searching on U Tube I see many videos regarding the cleaning of currency.

Rather then experimenting I thought the best thing to do is ask the community. Does anyone know of an acceptable way to clean currency which may remove the marking on this note without damaging. Thanks in advance.

There's professional currency restoration experts out there, but it usually costs quite a bit and would way surpass the value of this note. Would just leave it as is and stash it away.

I agree with Wheat.

It's a nice find, but no where close to being a candidate for mechanical improvements.

Thanks. I would not want to damage further. Will place it with my other binary notes as is.

It is only a dollar, so I would probably keep it for a while just for fun.

If you feel so inclined, you can try mild soap and water. It might work depending on what the stain is. In any event, the value above face is nil, so you don't have much to lose.

If it were solid 5s, then having it restored would probably make sense.

Agree with all the above comments. It's a keeper to me.
