1972 LMC Reverse Error?

The memorial column is weirdly shaped, and is kind of pushing in towards the statue. What kind of error is this, or is it just PMD? There's no evidence of other damage around that area, so I don't know what this could be. Help!

To alter the columns, die polishing can remove enough of the fields to alter the shape of them. The bays are raised like the fields and polishing on the bays will make the devices alter with localized polishing on that area.
