@jstav, I suspect that the bezel is hiding the parting line from this piece being cast. That said, I am not a great judge of these things and therefore will be interested in the thoughts of others here.

It does kind of look cast. My brother-in-law let me take this from his parents house, they had passed away a couple years ago. He thinks his Dad did get it in Greece, spent a lot of time there, so I was curious. It is cool no matter what!

The type is a tetradrachm of Thrace under Lysimachos (back reads BASILEOS LYSIMACHOY) showing Athena holding a victory (Nike). The obverse is supposedly a direct portrait of Alexander.

However, it has some issues. The surfaces have a lot of chatter, which could be from casting. That might just be the picture, though. As it is mounted, it will be hard to check the edge, but if it is cast, I expect the edge will be completely uncorrected as the extra work would be unjustified given the mount. The curves on the obverse fields are also odd.

IMO this is not a genuine coin, it looks cast with mushy details and surface issues.
