This little gem is a pocket piece my husband's cousin keeps. He picked it up in the 80's from a flea market and has been carrying it around since. I told him I could try to help him identify the variety. She's a little rough but well loved by Jimmy.

My feeble guess is Newcomb 9. How did I do? Also, if you can give me an idea of the rarity (i.e. should Jimmy keep it as a pocket piece or not).

Thanks!

You are correct, it is N-9. Fairly easy to tell. The point of leaf below the F is to the left of the base and that only occurs on N-7 and N-9. On N-7 the point of leaf below the second S is left of the right edge of the letter and on N-9 it is past the right edge. Yours is past the right edge.
