I have had this 1984-S Proof cent for some time. With my digital microscope I just can't get good picture. Looks like the S was punched 2 or 3 times.

It could be, but is there a possibility it could be zinc rot as well?

Strike Doubling also. Kind of the worst for a Zinc proof coin. While it is still a nice proof coin, but don't look too close at it.
