I have this 1972 P LMC and there is doubling above the horizontal bar on the 2. I cannot find anything that matches, not even a match with any Die markers from any stage of the other known examples. It came from one of the doubled master hub dies that are common. New variety? Thoughts?

Hello Jim0815,

At first I was thinking master hub double...but after looking, it resemble WDDO-012. With the pics you provided, I can only make out that one die marker on the "G".

Tell me what you think?

To me that mark on the 2 on your coin looks more like a "dot" and on the ones on CCs' site are elongated horizontally, hope that makes sense
Yours might be a die gouge or something like that?

hmm agree that the first pic of the date looks like the dot.

But that second pic of the date looks closer to the DDO; maybe it was the lighting.
I have noticed from my pics the angle of the light and BAM! Looks like I have a different coin.

There are some doubled dies on that area of the master die doubling. There is some affect on the MDD examples on this area. Note below.

Wexler does list more than the V.V. site. But What I see on Wexler's listings are more sweeping examples to the east

I'd be skeptical of it being a DDO if there are no matches, this could easily be a die gouge. However, it does look similar to some of the listed DDOs, so it could be a new one.

It could be part of the Master Die Doubling issue.
