Can I get some ideas on the possible date for this? I'm leaning towards 1910 S, but it doesn't hurt to get other opinions. Help please!

Yup. Unfortunately it's a grade of 2-3 I decided.

Since it is mutilated, doesn't really matter what the date is. Junk box special.

The third digit looks pretty strongly like a 4 to me, with that diagonal line coming down from the top to the left. The last digit could be a 3, but it's pretty blobby. Could be 8 or 0?

A 1943 D copper penny... Whoa!

Looks like a 1948-D to me.

Someone or something altered the date to much to tell, but if that's V.D.B. initials on the shoulder, then I'd think 1918 or later. Thanks, Doug.

1910s have a distinctively circular zero, so I'd say this is a 1918-D

But as mentioned by Halo, the VDB would be a easy view to see if the initials are there. That was the first year the initials were on the obverse on the cents.
