Just got this today. I believe it is the 12-M variety. I like the history behind the Fugio as being one of the first coins authorized to be made by the newly formed United States.

Noticed the die clash on the reverse. Looks like the sundial (from the obverse)under "STATES UNITED". Also, noticed the very weak strike of BUSINESS. Half the word is barely readable.

The clean spot on the reverse was from a sticker carelessly stuck there sometime in the past.

How long ago was the sticker removed?

Seller did not elaborate, but could have happened during previous ownerships. I checked and found no residue or I would give it an acetone bath. A copper collector from my local coin club noticed the nice copper underneath and asked if I considered conserving. I kinda like the original skin.

So do I! I asked the question because I wondered how long it might take to naturally tone and match the rest of the coin.

I wonder if I should leave this out and get some natural toning instead of putting it in a 2x2.
Copper is so reactive and this coin is so old, I'm not sure what will happen.

IMHO......I would "preserve it" in the condition it's in right now and not let it "age" anymore.

. I think it looks nice as is. These were 100% copper like the Large Cents. I just think these Colonials and Large Cents look great with age!
