I started hunting nickel coins today and I found 2 nickels in the same box with a big die cut. I'm too new to this field, so please correct me if they are not a die cut. Can you tell me the value of these 2 coins please? Thank you so much! #1 - 1974-D #2 - 1985-P

The 85 is a Cud. The other might be a struck through. Need pics of the reverse on both coins please. John1

Thanks for the added pics. I would have thought that opposite the Cud would be a slight weak area that I am not seeing. Give it a bit and more members will chime in. John1

The '74 looks like lamination, the '85 like a Cud.

1974 looks like glue on the coin? Nothing has peeled off the coin. You can see the normal devices through the glue.

Nice Cud on the 85. Looks like glue on the 74 D.

Is that a raised area on the 74? If yes, then I agree with glue. My eyes were thinking it was a depressed area.
