here's another interesting find from going through my huge Penny stash recently, a rusty copper colored 1970 D dimeit has a Dusty dry feel and seems slightly thinner than a typical dime, sure enough upon weighing it ,it is 2.03 nearly a quarter gram light, none of the normal dimes I weighed were any less than 2.23,the reverse also appears to be a very weak strikea consistent with a missing clad specimen. so what I'm looking to know is would environmental corrosion account for this weight loss, or is it a genuine specimen that escaped from the mint like that?
it's no surprise this ended up mixed in with all my pennies, almost disregarded it as an ugly old junk coin until I started reading about these dimes missing clad and being possibly rare and valuable, seems to be consistent with a missing clad specimen but I'd like the opinion of a more well-trained eye
