Looking at the MM it just seems odd to me. Looking at the SW and NE.

Hi,

It's a very normal looking mint mark for that period. What you are looking at as doubling is a result of the die being worn.

All the mushy "spread out" doubling is caused by die wear. You'll recognize a doubled die for sure when you see one. You're just looking too hard.

coppercoins is dead on.

Until I saw my first doubled die in hand I thought everything was doubled :P

I found my first DDR on a 1962 Jefferson nickel the other day and they are right, it pops out at you.
