Could someone explain to me why on alot of coins there appears to be writing or numbers in the metal of coins . Here is a bicentennial quater image I took a dmfew minuites ago . Any help would be appreciated

to the CCF! If you could tell me is the area of concern raised or incused? If it is incused then it is post strike damage. Your pic is not very clear.

To CCF! Probably most likely just a coin contact mark from Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

Please take another picture of the issue you have trouble identifying and the entire coin itself.

It's not raised and I have to use my microscope to see otitis like it's just inside the metal

Reed damage from another coin:

Incuse marks on a coin is usually coin damage 99% of the time. There are a few striking issues that are collectable. (thus the 1%)
