Wear would make it smaller than the usual dime right? This one seems to be slightly bigger than a usual dime

Usually. Your dime is not a broadstrike. It is either circulation wear or intensional wear.

Probably a combination of both intentional wear and regular circulation wear.

Looks like a Dryer Coin to me, these are a few dimes that I pulled out of a dryer for caparison.

Consider the date? 1972 What was going on back then that cause a lot of wear on dimes then. Vending machines. Soda machines, Cigarette machines, Casinos, coin counters. Back then a phone call was probably still 10 cents. Parking meters. It is just showing wear and tear on the coins.
