Can't get a good sense of the surfaces from these darkish pics, but I'll say AU-58 with a low confidence factor.

au55. nice strike by the crown and upper hair. lower locks saw a weaker strike. overall a nice looking coin.

I'm thinking more MS62. Weakness on hairline of Liberty and vertical columns on the reverse are normal for this date. The reverse almost has a proof appearance to it, though every proof of this date I've seen has much better pronounced denticles and rims, so that is why I don't think Proof but business strike. Hard to tell from the photos if any luster is present, the light source was diffused in these photos. A tough coin to grade, but a good learning test.

thanks for your comments westcoin. the photos are subduing the luster present. I've tried multiple ways to get better shots with no success. the coin appears to have about 30% original luster on both sides remaining.

panzaldi what are you calling it? Curious as to your knowledgeable opinion.

Quote: panzaldi what are you calling it? Curious as to your knowledgeable opinion. I was having difficulty as whether it was AU or low MS. weak strikes are typical which adds to the dilemma. the profile has absolutely no wear or rub but there may be some light rub on some of the highest devices. I'm leaning towards AU55 as the luster is not enough in my opinion to warrant a 58

Thanks this one is a real puzzler I can tell - even in hand.
