Inexpensive now, but could cost you your life during the war. I hope I am presenting these correctly. WWII Mindanao and Cagayan Emergency Currency Philippines guerrilla moneyEmergency circulating notes were currency printed by the Philippine Commonwealth Government in exile during World War II. These "guerrilla pesos" were printed by local government units and banks using crude inks and materials. Due to the inferior quality of these bills, they were easily mutilated. The Japanese-sponsored Second Philippine Republic under President Jose P. Laurel outlawed possession of guerrilla currency and declared a monopoly on the issuance of money and anyone found to possess guerrilla notes could be arrested or even executed.

There are hundreds of different types of Philppine Guerrilla notes. Neil Shafer wrote a catalog in the 1980s. It is ling out of print and difficult to find. The government issues are also listed in the regional issues catalog of world paper money.

These are very interesting. For my knowledge, how do they tie to U.S. paper money?

I think because the Philippines was a United States Territory at that time in history.

Right. The islands were ceded by Spain to the US following the Spanish-American War. Only in 1946 did they gain independence from the US. It's for the same reason we have these:

Just noticed this post. This is a new book recently published by one of the members of the San Diego Paper Money club. It is about 200 pages with full illustrations, however it only covers the Cebu Province of Philippine emergency notes. Still an excellent reference with all of the signatories and design information.
