All those scratches in front of her face are unfortunate.

It took me a little searching as this ended up being in Stack's Bowers early iAuction - the date is also incorrect.

It was sold on 12/14/2014

The coin is graded by NGC as a VF Details - Graffiti.

Here is the link to the original lot in the auction with photos of the whole slab too.

Numismatic student; I'm not picking on you as your amount of quality posts is great, but please do more research before calling out NGC (or anyone else) for bad grading, A major TPG will not let anything this bad slip by.

Thankfully I stand correct that they did NOT let this "straight grade" and called it, what it is.

Thanks for posting the correction but to be fair, that screenshot is from the NGC website and the error is NGC's not mine. I clicked through to the link to the auction which was dead. I had no reason to think that NGC was reporting the grade of the coin incorrectly.

IMHO it's your error as well. TPG websites are full of errors. Yes, NGC isn't listing the grade correctly and their link to the SB auction doesn't take you directly to the auction page for the coin, but when you're discussing a coin that you don't own, it's up to you to make sure you have the facts straight.

It took me all of 15 seconds to go to the SB website, click on auction archives, select Dec 2014 iAuction, select Capped Bust quarters and see the actual slab photo of the coin.
