Hello all, I recently purchased this 1938 silver dollar, ICCS graded (I will reveal what it is graded after I get your opinions) and I believe it is fraudulently been replaced with a different coin. If you could please give me your opinions on what you would grade this coin, I'd appreciate it, then I will post a picture of the grading card. Thanks! Sean

Counterfeit, did you buy from a foreign seller? Perhaps the holder is also counterfeit.

Why do you say counterfeit? I think it is a legit coin, just of a lower grade than it was purported to be.

Would you please post a picture of the full coin both sides. Hard to grade a coin from partial pictures.

I'm thinking somewhere around an EF-46 with slight cleaning.

Some of the letters in the obv. legend look off to me. Left leg of the M as well as the I's.

Really? I must be off on my grading then- what about the wear around the rim and the flattening of the denticles almost all the way around, not to mention the rim nick and fingerprint above the G in Georgivs? I would rate this coin at VF30 at best.

AU58 The flattening of rim and denticles is quite common on these dollars even in mint state, it is a result of weak strike not wear. Rim nicks and fingerprints do not affect the grade of circulated coins, their grade is strictly a function of wear. The first points of wear for these dollars are the eyebrow, cheek and edge of ear. These points show only the slightest wear on your coin.

Honestly, I was going to say MS62 to 63 when you first posted.
It's fine.......relax.
If that coin is a VF, then I'm the King of England.
