For fun, this is what I am sharing with you... the massive searches I do with nickel 50c and nickel dollars. This is what an extensive search of 3600 50c pieces yielded... for me, it is not about the time or making money... it is about the thrill of the hunt!! The coins in mylar flips are heading to PCGS, the 2x2 carded coins are heading to ICCS. Of course, there were also a few error coins (significant strike-through errors), and good handful of nice BU 1978 Round Jewels and about a dozen 1974 Missing S varieties. Of course, every batch is different... A number of my clients are PCGS Registry players. Almost all the top nickel 50c coins you see in the PCGS population reports MS-66 and above, came from me... including the highest known from 1968-2000 (pure nickel). This one was PCGS MS-68, and it sold for a hefty profit...

Since you put all that work in, at least you got something in return.
Just as a matter of curiosity:
The ones going to ICCS, will most of them get the grade you think they are?

Have to admit you have a lot more patience than me. Applaud you on your ability to tell the the difference between MS66 & MS67 coins. With my eyes they look the same.

Roger ... You have spent more in TPG cert' fees than I have on coins themselves in the last 5 years ... and I'm not being facetious.

Quote: The ones going to ICCS, will most of them get the grade you think they are? Yes, or higher - I have kept a spreadsheet since 2006 on my ICCS submissions (about two bulk batches per year) and I am about 98.7% on par with them. That said, I tend to be a tad more conservative than ICCS is, my "really nice MS-64s" that I keep in coin tubes would probably also grade ICCS MS-65 - but I would prefer selling the nicer ones to collectors... The nickel 50c and nickel dollars are a series I have slowly been promoting for years now. Sooner or later, the last of the big voyageur dollars will catch on...

That must take a lot of patience. I'm glad you are getting good results.
