I have been holding on to the these 20s after someone must of deposited them. Then they came right back to me. Condition isn't great for either of them. But pretty impressive serial numbers. Any thoughts?

Although they might be a novelty number to some, they are not what is considered as collectors numbers. With the condition they are in, they would only be worth face value. Keep them if you like but I would spend them.

.... to the Community! To me, your 2 bills would be spenders. I don't see any added value with those serial numbers and the low conditions distract even more. Keep looking!

They are each worth $20. It even says it right on them.

Thanks everyone for your help. I guess I'll spend them. I'll let you know if I find anything else!

When I started collecting I pulled out old discontinued series notes much like the 2 you posted. It took me some time to get up to speed on special #, condition & understanding what was "collectible" (especially in terms of higher grades). Quote: Any thoughts? Take a gander through this site and learn what experienced members here like to collect. You will likely see special numbers (radars, repeaters, low #, etc) & star replacements & older issues in better condition (Very Fine and above) that might attract your eye. You can also go to a local library (or book store) & borrow (or buy) a paper money catalogue on US banknotes if you'd like an excellent hard copy reference on rarer notes. Hang onto the $40 & go to a show (or shop) and look around at the denomination, special serial (or series) that you think you would like & look for a banknote that is affordable. Use the $40 to buy something that catches your eye. Chat & get to know some of the collectors at the show & get their feedback. You'll likely learn something & find a decent "collectible" banknote that can start off your collection.

I don't know that many money shows in my area. I guess I'll keep them for now but I am not sure how long.

Welcome to the site... They are great poker hands, but other than that... For things that you do not expect to sell, they can be fun to look at.
Modern notes need to be almost mint condition to be worth a premium. Have fun!

Adrian - You can be confident that they have no premium, and wouldn't even if they were virtually new. Best thing you can do is check in here often at the paper forum, where members regularly show low-numbered notes for comment.

Keep them as a bench mark. when you find better then swap them out. and when you find better than that swap them out again. it's like a never ending beauty contest. just enjoy the hunt.

I would keep them for fun on a dollar, but a twenty is a tough sell. I am sure they would be spent as soon as I needed to spend them.
