It's difficult because although this style with the long spike at the top was common in the late eighteenth century, it is also frequently copied.
My opinion is that this is a copy but from no later than the 1830s. Please make no attempt to clean it.

I didn't really think so. But a lot of reproductions or fakes are discussed on that forum, so I thought they might have more insight.
