Spot price is easy to find and figure out, but how do you compute price for face value of coinage, 8x, 10x, 12x....?

Used to be .715 times for 90%. At one point in 1980, it dropped as low as .4 times.

Just go to dgse and look at their buy/sell.

So with the current silver spot of $12.98, $1 face value would be x9.28 ?

As long as you are talking about dimes, quarters & halves that's correct. I think Silver dollars have slightly more silver but I don't know the exact multiplier. Maybe somewhere around .77?

Since many coins are composed of different materials, you first must know what that actually is. If Silver just melt it down and sell it as a lump.
In reality what your asking is pending why, how and where you try to sell or buy. Way to many variables. If buying or selling you must really know what it is and who is in the market for that or any price is just a guess.

That would be about the spot value of the silver, if you have 5000 ounces.

What you can get for it depends on the market, which is why I suggested dgse.
