So is this a real no D? If so, which reverse is it? Edited by daveg131 08/18/2008 7:08 pm

There is a chance the "D" could have been removed . Do you have a closeup of the date?

If it is, it's the only one I've ever seen where the date isn't parallel to LIBERTY.

Here's the best I could get of the date.

It's missing the diecrack for die 1. WE is awful strong for die 2 at the stage of the game where it was printing no D's. The O is not mushy in ONE for die 3. And it certainly isn't a coattail die 4. Best guess would be a die 2 with reservations of a no D. LIBERTY sure looks funny to me. nlp

There is something wrong with that coin. As stated, the date should not slant down toward the right. The date on your coin slants at about 8 degrees. It should be completely parralel to LIBERTY.

Going one step further, it has to have had the date doctored from something else. The curl part of the 2s, especially the first one is too long. The twos are more opened on a genuine coin.

An unsuccessful attempt to mimic a key Lincoln Cent. A slanted date? That screams that the coin has been manipulated. BJ Neff

All the digits or the date are equally strong which isn't right, the whole motto is trong and sharp which isn't right. I'd say a fake.

Interesting fake, it's pretty good...but the flaws have been pointed out above. I have a pretty good SVDB that I keep in my "oddities" collection.

Crazy glue, or Super glue? the "S' is too outstanding for the rest of the devices. U.S Garage Minting? That '22 Hmm "no D" must have come from the same process. Dick

Fifth time THIS FORUM to log in. I can see a very clear "4" in the date. "D", odr no "D". Dick

Looks fake to me. The slanted date and letters look suspicious.

Do you mean die pair 2?
IMO, no.
Die Pair #2: Second 2 in date is sharper than the first 2. All letters in TRUST are sharp. WE is only slightly mushy. IN GOD is mushy. L in LIBERTY butts up against the rim. Reverse is sharp.
Is there any die rotation?

There is no possibility that this coin is truly a 1922 "No D" or weak D. It is an obvious fake.
