Hey Coin Community! I'm not to familiar with Canadian coins. After doing some research, I'm still confused. How much of the shoulder strap has to be missing from the design to be considered NSF? Is the following picture a SF or NSF? I have a follow up depending on the answer. Thank you for taking a look.

A good way to tell is the I in the word DEI has pronounced flaring in the NSF variety, also I think if you can see any of the strap it's a SF. Wear can make it less obvious.

I've never been more relieved to be disappointed. Thank you for the information. Determined, with the "I" in "DEI", that all this one was is a common SF near. I was almost sick when I thought it may have been a NSF near.

Yes, It would have been a real shame if it was a NSF Near with that hole.

Well I can see why you didn't post the full coin before. Very lucky it not a NSF

Although not a nickel collector, and certainly not its varieties, it sure seems like I can see the shoulder folds on his coins.... even with the small photos.

We just call them SF and NSF. The real problem with the original (NSF) design was that Mrs. Gillick was just a regular citizen and The Royal Mint chief engraver was mad that his portrait earned only second place and not chosen.
