Hello all! I got this Wheat cent from a guest at my work and when I first saw it I though it said 1939 or 1949 because it was in pretty good shape. But when I looked closer and realized it was a 1909 and when I flipped it over to see the reverse instant chills! It was a V.D.B and when I got it home I was looking at it under my microscope I noticed it had doubling but I'm not an expert and I'm still learning how to differentiate between Machine Doubling and actual doubled dies. What do you guys think? Thank you in advance! Also attached is an image from PCGS of a confirmed one.

It sure seems to match your reference picture. I'll be interested to hear the experts opinions. Also a possible lamination error on the reverse. Nice find!

Yep that is a DDO, FS-101. It's rare to see a 1909 VDB in circulation so very nice find.

As a novice here I'm curious if this adds a premium to the value?

Jafo50, yes, it does add a premium to the value, since it's a genuine Doubled Die variety.

That coin is quite expensive from what I've seen, a 65RB of the same coin sold for $375, not for sure how much it's worth or it's condition, but I would say quite a bit.

A variety and an error coin is not a plus. If your trying to sell it to a collector, he will view it as a variety, but may turn it down because of the lamination issue. To an error collector of laminations, they may offer a price, but will pay nothing more for a variety. So don't always view a variety with an error as a plus.

Also don't clean the coin. That could make the price go down very quickly. If the color turns pink, then you just turned away, a collector of varieties.
