Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere already. If so, my appologies. So I was reading an article about the "W" mint quarters and it mentioned something called "The Great American Coin Hunt" where apparently dealers, numismatists and collectors are placing some of their collectible coins into circulation. Here is the article that mentions it (second paragraph):

https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-r...-collectible

Has anyone heard of this and what are your thoughts? are you going to participate by spending some coins? are you going to hit the banks for some roll hunting during this time? Do you think it's a government conspiracy to take your classic coins away from you? Today is the first I'm hearing of this.

As to people putting old coins back into circulation. It does happen all the time. In some instances due to a home robbery, coin store robbery or similar situations. Then too the robbers just spend the coins as if they were coins. Also, kids sometimes take coins from a parents collection and spend on toys or candy. Sometimes a coin collection is just spent when found in an abandoned safe deposit box. There are numerous reasons old coins reappear in change all the time.
