Hello

I found this coin while going through an old change collection. Not coin collection just some weird coins my dad had saved over the years. This coin which doesn't quite match the descriptions due to the gear like rim. Otherwise it is quite nice and clearly legible. Even the stars and liberty/ date arent worn off.

Any opinions would be welcome Thanks!

The coin has been altered by cutting out notches in the rim. As a result it has limited numismatic value, but tons of historic value. Maybe you can ask around at your family to see if anyone knows anything about it.

The reason they were cut like that is really cool. They used them to cut dough for pastries and bread. It was cheaper then buying one and could be gotten rid of if not needed.

I also thought it may be a pie (dough) cutter but this one looks different from others I have seen before. Certainly practical and folksy.

I also thought pastry cutter, but I think those usually have a hole in the middle and deeper indents.

Damaged, but I agree not a pastry cutter.

This cent was probably being set up as a sewing / tracing wheel. I've seen them like this before. Interesting piece.

Welcome!
