4 of you? thats weak. When my dad got his 2000 lb gun safe, we did it with only 3 guys and a come-along. Granted, we were going down the stairs to the basement, but we had to take all the doors off on the way... Congo Rats though, it looks like it will keep everyone except Danny Ocean out. I hope you sleep a little easier tonight.

Don't know where you live but I could assume that half the neighborhood now know you have a safe in the house. Also, the other 3 people that helped now know you have a safe in the house. Those neighbors will tell their friends who will tell someone that will tell someone. Possibly you kept it in a box until you got it in the house though. I bring this up due to living in an area where crime is common. Two houses in my area were robbed and they went right for the safe as if they knew it was there. Yes, bolted to the floor but so what. The robbers come prepared since they know about the safe.

I work with all the guys that helped. I vouch for their character. My neighbors are close friends. They watch the house and feed my cat when I'm gone. Yeah, they know about it. I told them. Two of them are collectors themselves.
Besides, I live in a quiet part of rural North Dakota. I'd know who it was right away. We would ALL know who it was.

Btw, any time I see a safe that size, I think guns--not so much coins. A friend has an arsenal in one a similar size, and any thief who thinks things through might consider that scenario.

Quote: Btw, any time I see a safe that size, I think guns--not so much coins. A friend has an arsenal in one a similar size, and any thief who thinks things through might consider that scenario. When I saw the pictures, I was thinking the same thing! I have plenty of friends with a safe that size, and all of them use it for their guns. I think a well armed citizen would be the last target of the common thief. They want a quick score of common, untraceable, and easily liquidated items; especially cash. Something like this is just too much work for them. Like mentioned above, this wont stop your "Danny Ocean" type from making an attempt. But that kind of criminal would also like to know the specific contents of the safe, not just that "there are some coins" in it. While the common thief will just hock their score, the Danny Ocean will have a plan and know exactly how they will fence the contents, which means knowing exactly what is in there. Besides, not once did acidic1 say this was for his coins! For all we know, he has it loaded with weapons and is rigged to "solve" any problem that might come its way!

Yep, and from I've heard...most burglaries are either kids doing it for kicks, or a desperate addict looking for easy $. Neither bring a plasma torch. So if you have something to tempt a "Danny Ocean" type, just don't tell anyone.

G'day, that looks like a lot of safe. Coins, guns, old photographs, important documents: doesn't take long to fill it, and then you'll be back to prioritizing ... until you get another one. I wonder if many people collect safes ? Peter in Oz

Quote: I wonder if many people collect safes? Probably, but the problem with the rare ones is where do you put them? I mean where do you put a valuable safe to keep it from being stolen? Oh the irony of it all...

Depending on where you live.......(so maybe you're good) But in a home invasion where they "want" you to be home. And they put a gun to your wife or child's head and say "open the safe".......whatcha gonna do ? Are ya gonna try to get to that pistol in the drawer by the bed, that has a trigger lock on it while you, your wife, and kids are at gunpoint?

Easy, keep a gun in the safe with the "rich stuff." Oh yea, and since that one is already safe, lose the trigger lock, and keep the clip full. Anyone tries to get my stuff, while I am there, they are leaving with some holes.
