For TimNH. Personally, I would not buy any early piece without certification. Way too many counterfeits out there. Especially when dealing with Colonials. Pay the extra for piece of mind and crack it out if you chose.

The bidding for the 1804 is up to $761. I agree with the poster above that it's more like a $500 coin.
As far as being authentic, ebay allows 30 day to return an item "not as described" (it matters not what the seller lists as their policy). That should be sufficient time to determine whether it's real.
