Hi, I come across this coin and always I'm trying to see the difference between MD and DD.
Also how you can tell if 1977 D its a 40% one?
Thank You

What you have is Die Deterioration and Machine Doubling. No doubled die here. 40% silver Kennedy's were from 1965-1970. Some were only mint set strikes so your best bet for finding them in circulation or at banks is 1965-1968. 1964 was 90% silver. Happy hunting!

Best is to look through the last few pages of threads here on CCF to get a better feel for the difference. For me, the steplike nature of the doubling on this coin means MD.
