$1 Bill Printing Error? - Coin Community Forum

QuarterHoarder72 Pillar of the Community United States 2156 Posts	Posted 04/07/2019 3:24 pm There seems to be part of reverse printed on the Obverse, specifically the bottom right corner with the R in One Dollar and the small web design. SteveInTampa Pillar of the Community United States 4637 Posts	Posted 04/07/2019 4:32 pm The error is known as an offset error. The OP's note is a partial back-to-front offset error. Under normal circumstances, a sheet is fed into the press between the inked printing plate and the impression cylinder. The impression cylinder pushes against the paper forcing it to accept the ink from the intaglio recesses of the printing plate. The error occurs when a sheet fails to enter press and the impression cylinder contacts the inked printing plate. The next and subsequent sheets receive not only the intended printing but also the inking transferred to the impression cylinder. Report this Post to the Staff
