As I usually do I asked at a bank if they had any large dollar coins. Teller said yes. She asked if I wanted them and I said yes so she put $280 worth in rolls on the counter. I took them and plan on going through them today. I'm sure nothing great but from what I could see so far, all Ike dollar coins.

I too had gotten about $88 in Ikes from my local branch. Nothing silver, but it is fun to spend the Ikes and see people's faces when you pay with them! Good luck with your search and let us know! :D

I don't get out a lot, but I thought it would be fun to carry an Ike and present it (parent's allowing) to some well behaved child I happen upon. When I DO get out, and I see such a child, I kick myself for not having one with me!

That's a great idea Earle42. I think I'll start doing that as well.

on CL for years & he tells me biz is great. He says it keeps him

in beer.

Well I opened all the rolls. All were Ike dollars. All from 1971 to 1978. All in various grades from about VG-8 to about almost AU-50 which is all just guessing. Quite a few were really great. None were dented or scratched. All rolls appeared to be sort of amateur put together with pre made dollar sized paper rolls. No Silver ones. Now it's putting together at least one of each for an Album and then figuring out if I should take them to a coin show and sell the rest.

Are the circulated ones worth more than face? If so, that would surprise me, so just asking. If not, I would spend them.

Some people think so. And that is why I'm going to a coin show and see if any dealer wants to buy them.
